Edward Scissorhands
Sadler's Wells
Start time: 7.30pm

Since its premiere in 2005, Matthew Bourne's magical dance production of Edward Scissorhands has carved a place in the hearts of audiences world-wide, in an enchanting tale of an extraordinary boy who brings a slice of magic to an ordinary town.

In a rotting, Gothic castle, a mad inventor constructs his own boy... When it all goes horribly wrong, the boy Edward finds himself unfinished and alone in deepest suburbia, with no voice, no idea of who or what he is, and instead of fingers at the end of his arms, four pairs of large and viciously sharp scissors...

In time, a kindly townswoman invites him to live with her suburban family. Can Edward find his place in the well-meaning community which struggles to see past his curious appearance to the innocence and gentleness within?

Based on the classic Tim Burton movie and featuring hauntingly beautiful music, Bourne and his New Adventures Company return to this witty, bittersweet story of an incomplete boy left alone in a strange new world.
‘...vintage Bourne: as entrancingly strange and watchable as his version of Swan Lake’ The Guardian
‘Truly magical. A show for lovers of dance, musicals, films and everything in between’ The Scotsman
‘…a stirring blend of playful and melancholic’ The Telegraph
