Itinerary Day 1

Arrival and visit to Jersey Pearl

On arrival into Jersey airport, we'll be met by a local coach company, and our adventure begins.

Our first visit will be to Jersey Pearl, on the west coast of the island. Looking out over the beautiful St. Ouen’s bay, Jersey Pearl comprises an exquisite showroom showcasing a huge range of traditional and modern pearl jewellery and other gift pieces. We will also attend a private Masterclass, in which we'll learn all about the wonderful world of pearls, discover how and where they’re grown, the different pearl types and how they are graded.

There is a lovely cafe where we will make our own arrangements for lunch - perhaps followed by a stroll on the beach, and an optional visit to the tiny but fascinating Channel Islands Military Museum (small additional cost), located in a real German bunker on the beach!

Then onward to our hotel where we’ll check in and convene for our first dinner in the restaurant.

Itinerary Day 2

Jersey War Tunnels and Jersey Zoo

We start our day with a visit to the Jersey War Tunnels. In 1940, German forces landed in Jersey, and remained there in for the next five years - the only part of British soil to be occupied during WWII. The War Tunnels tell the story of this unique period in the island's history, through tales of hardship, heartache and heroism. The exhibition is housed in an underground tunnel complex, built by the Germans using slave labour.

In the afternoon, in contrast to the morning's activity, we'll go to the Jersey Zoo, founded in 1959 by celebrated writer and conservationist Gerald Durrell. A beautiful site with an astonishing range of animals large and small, with daily Keeper talks. Also featuring a fascinating exhibition celebrating the life and legacy of Gerald Durrell, and a special art installation, 'Bloom', a colourful meadow made up of thousands of flower sculptures, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Durrell's birth.

Itinerary Day 3

The Botanic Gardens at Samarès Manor and free time in St Helier

In the morning, we'll visit Samarès Manor, traditional home to the Seigneur de Samarès. We'll have a tour of the Manor, to learn the history and stories of the Seigneurs throughout the ages, right up to the present day.

We'll then have free time to explore the distinctive plantings in the Botanic gardens, with unique plants which thrive in this exceptionally fertile site. The Seigneur is also proud to share his private collection of historic farming equipment and carriages, which showcase Jersey’s rural and agricultural heritage.

In the afternoon, we'll head into St Helier, coastal capital of Jersey. Here you can make your way to any of the attractions which suit your interest (we'll each have a Heritage Card which gives you entry to any/all). You may wish to visit Elizabeth Castle, a fortress on a tidal islet just off the coast; the Jersey Museum to uncover the breadth of the tiny island's unique and varied heritage; or the Maritime Museum and Occupation Tapestry Gallery to learn about Jersey’s seafaring history and the Island’s story during World War II. Or you may just wish to browse the shops, get a coffee and relax!

Itinerary Day 4

La Hougue Bie and Mont Orgueil at Gorey, followed by La Mare Wine Estate

Today we'll make a visit to  La Hougue Bie - a fascinating Neolithic ritual site, one of the ten oldest buildings in the world, and older than the Pyramids. There's also an exhibition about the Grouville Hoard - the world's largest Celtic hoard of coins and jewellery unearthed on Jersey. How and why did it get here?

We then move on to the beautiful harbour village of Gorey. From here you can visit the medieval Mont Orgueil castle, with links to the English Crown and stunning views across the bay to France. It's a bit of an uphill walk - but well worth it, with a network of staircases, towers and secret rooms to explore, and truly memorable artworks along the way.

In the afternoon, we move onto the La Mare Wine Estate, where we'll have a 'Tour and Tasting Experience'. Surrounded by gardens, vineyards and apple orchards, the Estate is not only beautiful but also offers a real taste of Jersey, including their wines, ciders, apple brandy, hand made chocolates and the famous Jersey Black Butter preserve. Bring your wallets for the Gift Shop!

Itinerary Day 5

Eric Young Orchid Foundation and Corbière Lighthouse

Hotel check out, then our last visits of the week. First stop - the Eric Young Orchid Foundation. A unique centre dedicated to orchids, and proud Chelsea Flower Show gold medallists. Admire the sheer diversity of this most extravagant and flamboyant of all flowers in a purpose built display facility.

We'll then stop for lunch at the Le Braye Café, a family owned beach bistro offering fresh, delicious food & drink, with a stroll on the beach after, if you wish.

Our last visit will to view the dramatic Corbière Lighthouse. A causeway links the lighthouse to shore at low tide - walk it if you dare, but listen out for the alarm which warns you of the incoming tide! There's also a striking monument, commemorating a maritime rescue in 1995.

We'll then make our way to the airport for our return flight.
