Itinerary Day 1

Belton House

We’ll break our journey north with a visit to Belton House (NT). Own arrangements for lunch in the courtyard Stables Café, and a stretch of the legs viewing the house and gardens, as time permits.

The house is an exceptional example of Restoration architecture, with a world-renowned library and collections of art, silver, and ceramics. Delightful gardens to walk through if you prefer.

Then onward to our hotel where we’ll convene for our first dinner in the restaurant.

Itinerary Day 2

Eden Camp and Castle Howard

We start our day with a visit to Eden Camp, a modern history museum set within the grounds of an original WWII POW Camp. Step back in time inside the various huts to experience the sights and sounds of life on both the Home Front and the Front Line. An informative gem of a museum.

In the afternoon we move on to the stunning Castle Howard, a highlight of any Yorkshire tour. Explore the iconic architecture and beautiful interiors of the House, including the Great Hall which rises 70 feet into the air. The Gardens and Grounds at Castle Howard include lakes, follies, woodland, temples, and statues - all of which bring out the colour and drama of the four seasons. Own arrangements for lunch at one of the several restaurants/cafés.

Itinerary Day 3

The Wensleydale Creamery and Tennants Auction House

Some lesser-known Yorkshire gems today!

In the morning, we’ll take a beautiful scenic drive across the Dales (a treat in itself) to the Wensleydale Creamery. Where they actually make genuine Yorkshire Wensleydale! Here we'll have a fascinating demonstration on how to make cheese, followed by a self-guided visit to the little museum, featuring Wallace & Grommit, of course! Be sure to leave time to taste (and buy) the fantastic range of Wensleydale cheeses.

Afterwards we head to Tennants Auction House, where we first have lunch in the beautiful Garden Rooms (included).

We’ll then have a fascinating guided tour and chance to browse the Display Galleries, showcasing an ever-changing array of fascinating art and antiques.

Itinerary Day 4

RHS Harlow Carr Gardens and afternoon at leisure in Harrogate

We start the day with a visit to RHS Harlow Carr Gardens.

Very much part of the Yorkshire countryside, Harlow Carr is a delight in every season. Here you can explore at your own pace, maybe with a coffee at one of the cafés.

We’ll return to the hotel around lunchtime, then you will have free time to explore Harrogate – maybe lunch in the renowned Betty’s Tea Room? Browse the range of shops in this iconic town; visit the Turkish Baths, Royal Pump room or the Harrogate Royal Hall or maybe just find a nice coffee house and take in the sights and sounds of Harrogate. The time is yours!

We will have a tour of the Hall, with time after to visit the Sitwell Museum, Italianate Gardens and woodland areas. Own arrangements for lunch in the lovely café.
